What is PRF?
It is a concentrate of blood platelets and immune cells, making it possible to bring together in a single fibrin membrane all the constituents favorable to healing and immunity present in a blood sample.
This innovative process promotes the healing of the wound on the one hand and on the other hand accelerates healing, thus considerably limiting the risk of post-operative complications.
How is PRF prepared?
- A blood sample of 4 to 8 vials of 10 ml is taken from the patient. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate its components and recover a concentrate rich in platelets.
- This yellowish concentrate is used as is in the form of a membrane or mixed with bone or bone substitutes in granules to be worn under the gum, at the site of the bone defect.
This constitutes a real natural fibrin dressing which will turn into bone tissue or mucous tissue
For what type of intervention can the PRF technique be used?
- for an intra-sinus bone graft or Sinus lift with the possibility of immediate implant placement (depending on the case)
- for filling bone deficit after tooth extraction
- to improve healing of soft tissues after implant placement
- for gum grafts
To remember:
- Thanks to this process, bone regeneration occurs faster, in greater quantity and quality.
- It is an autologous product, coming from your own body (your blood), it is perfectly biocompatible.
